The Story Behind SeaCure Moving

SeaCure Moving was founded May 1,1981 by Anna Mae McQuaid and Ronald V. McQuaid in Mystic Islands, New Jersey.

Ronald V. started in the industry on a local crew for Wheaton out of Philadelphia, PA in the late 1950's, where he and his wife Anna Mae and son Ronald lived. He then moved into sales for the company before going to work for Town & County Van Lines in Feasterville, PA in the late 1960's.

In 1979, after ten years with Town & Country, Ron's boss asked him to relocate his family from Philadelphia, PA  to manage a moving company in Ocean County, New Jersey. The boss leased a located in the Great Bay Plaza of Mystic Islands in Little Egg Harbor. Ron sold their house in Philadelphia, was given a company car and made the move with his family "down the shore" to run the operation. At the time, his son Ronald J. was still working as a Class A Driver for Town & Country, with his wife Kathleen and two kids Tara & Ronald living in the Philadelphia suburbs of Delran, N.J.  Although the new location was growing, the boss insisted for him to return to the Feasterville, PA office as soon as the lease ended, since sales at that location drastically declined in his absence.

Ron and Ann had already sold their house in PA, and bought a home on Osbourne Island, and started making a new life in Little Egg Harbor. Out of love for the area (and frustration with the boss' change of direction) Anna Mae encouraged her husband to quit working for someone else and start fresh in their new community. At 51 years old, Anna Mae became the President of Sea Cure Moving - "we're by the sea and cure your moving needs". They leased a small storefront and sold used furniture and bedding which was a great fit in the Jersey Shore area in the 1980's when people did not put new furniture in their beach houses. Ronald J. soon left the Feasterville operation to join his parents in business, selling their home and all living together in a one bathroom Mystic Island rancher for three years when the business was in the early stages.

As they grew,

With more than 25 years of combined experience in the moving industry and a strong commitment to customer service, they set out to build a moving company that combined professional expertise with a personal, family-centered approach.

From the beginning, their mission was simple: treat every customer’s move with care, honesty, and professionalism. What started as a small local moving operation quickly grew through word-of-mouth referrals and a reputation for dependable service throughout the Jersey Shore.

Through dedication and hard work, the McQuaid family established SeaCure Moving as a trusted name among New Jersey moving companies.

Building a Trusted Local Moving Company

In its early years, SeaCure Moving focused on helping families and businesses relocate throughout Ocean and Monmouth Counties and more. As demand grew, the company expanded its fleet, team, and capabilities while maintaining the personalized service customers valued.

This steady growth reflected the trust SeaCure earned within local communities and the relationships built with homeowners, real estate professionals, and businesses across New Jersey.

Over time, SeaCure Moving became known for its reliability, professionalism, and ethical business practices—values that continue to define the company today.

Expanding Through a National Partnership

In 1987, SeaCure Moving became an authorized agent for Bekins Van Lines, one of the nation’s most established moving networks.

This partnership allowed SeaCure to expand beyond local moves and support customers relocating across state lines and throughout the United States.

By combining the personalized service of a family-owned moving company with the resources of a national network, SeaCure could offer customers reliable long-distance moving services while maintaining the local support they trusted.

This milestone marked an important step in the company’s evolution from a local mover to a full-service relocation provider.

A Growing Company with Strong Family Roots

As SeaCure Moving continued to grow, the company invested in professional training, modern equipment, and improved facilities to better serve its expanding customer base.

Despite this growth, the company remained committed to the same principles established by its founders: provide honest service, treat customers with respect, and handle every move with care.

These values helped SeaCure build long-lasting relationships and maintain a strong reputation as a trusted moving company throughout New Jersey.

Continuing the Legacy

Today, SeaCure Moving is operated by the next generation of the McQuaid family. Leadership has been passed to siblings Ronald McQuaid and Tara McQuaid-Dixon, who continue the tradition started by their parents more than four decades ago.

Having grown up in the family business, they developed firsthand experience in the moving industry and a deep understanding of the company’s commitment to customer service.

Under their leadership, SeaCure Moving continues to grow while preserving the principles that built the company.

More Than Four Decades of Moving Experience

From its beginnings as a small Jersey Shore moving company to its position today as a trusted relocation provider, SeaCure Moving has remained dedicated to professionalism, integrity, and customer care.

For more than 40 years, the company has helped families and businesses move forward with confidence—guided by the same values that inspired its founding.

The story of SeaCure Moving continues today, built on a legacy of hard work, family leadership, and a commitment to serving customers with honesty and respect.
