  • Community Focused – Our team lives and works in Ocean, Monmouth, and Atlantic Counties, supporting local businesses and community organizations through initiatives like food drives, hurricane relief, and youth sports sponsorships.

Moving FAQs for Realtors

Q: When should my client start interviewing movers?

Ideally, as soon as they list their home or receive a contract—at least 4-6 weeks before their move date if possible. Early planning ensures better scheduling options and pricing.

Q: Can movers give prices by phone?

Movers can offer rough estimates by phone, but NJ and Federal regulations require written estimates based on a visual survey (in-person or virtual) for accuracy and consumer protection. A refusal to perform a visual survey is a red flag.

Q: Do movers need to be licensed?

Yes. Movers in NJ must carry an active Public Mover (PM) or Public Carrier (PC) license. Verify licenses at the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. For interstate moves, confirm USDOT and FMCSA registration. Sea Cure is fully licensed for local moves through the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs  and interstate moves under Bekins Van Lines authority through the DOT.

Q: Can I refer to Sea Cure without worrying about sales pressure?

Yes. We treat every referral as a request for guidance, not a sales lead. Our salaried moving consultants educate and assist—not pressure—so your clients receive honest advice and professional support.

Q: Is a junk hauler licensed to move goods? Do you also do junk hauling/clean outs?

No. A junk hauler’s license for disposal is different from a mover’s license. Junk haulers focus on trash removal, not protecting items during transport. Sea Cure is a licensed professional mover trained to pad and protect belongings. We can dispose of a few items during a move for a fee, but large or dirty loads should be handled by a professional junk hauler.

Q: What happens if my client needs storage before closing or during a new build?

Sea Cure operates our own temperature- and climate-controlled warehouses in Ocean and Monmouth Counties, offering secure, indoor storage with insurance and valuation options—keeping a single line of accountability throughout the move.

Q: Do you provide professional packing services?

Yes. We offer full or partial packing with professional-grade materials, as well as unpacking and debris removal services.

Q: This is my client’s second home, and they won’t be here for the move. Can you assist?

Yes. We can coordinate with an assigned third party—such as a realtor or home concierge—or provide full move management directly to oversee every detail.

Q: Can Sea Cure Moving help with home staging?

Yes. We provide labor to rearrange your client’s existing furniture but do not supply staging furniture or decor. We can work with your preferred staging professionals.

Q: Does Sea Cure provide home organizers to help declutter before a move or reset after?

Sea Cure partners with trusted third-party professional organizers who help clients declutter, prepare for packing, and reset their home. We coordinate closely to ensure seamless service and offer professional packing training to minimize damage risk.

Q: Do you handle senior moves and complex family transitions?

Absolutely. We specialize in senior moves, retirement relocations, estate transitions, downsizing, and working with assisted living communities.

Q: Can you support fast timelines or last-minute changes?

Yes. Our full-time dispatch team and experienced crews are equipped for flexibility, allowing us to adapt to tight schedules when possible. We are one of the larger movers in the area as far as labor and capacity and are better situated to accomodate changes.

Q: Do you require a deposit?

Unlike many movers, Sea Cure does not require a deposit to hold a standard moving date. Deposits are only requested for special circumstances like multi-truck, multi-day moves or jobs needing third-party services.

Q: Will my client lose money if they cancel or postpone?

No. We don’t charge fees for reasonable cancellations or postponements and will reschedule without penalty whenever possible.

Q: Can you complete a local move the same day as a double closing?

Yes. After a visual survey, we provide an accurate timeline to coordinate with closings. For larger moves, it’s often less stressful to load the day before and close early the next morning. If same-day is necessary, flexibility from buyers may help minimize waiting time costs.

Q: When is the best time to schedule closings when a sale is contingent and my client can’t get into their house early?

Aim for early-day, mid-week closings to avoid title and bank delays common on Fridays or month-end. Avoiding dates like the 28th-2nd can give clients better pricing and scheduling flexibility.

Q: Do you offer property damage protection so in the event of moving damage, it won’t disrupt the closing?

Yes. Sea Cure is fully insured for property damage. Legal movers in NJ are 100% liable for any property damage they cause—protecting your client’s transaction and your reputation.

Q: My client is moving in or out of an elevator building and needs a Certificate of Insurance (COI). Can you supply that?

Yes. Our underwriters generate customized COIs to meet building association requirements. Asking for proof of insurance is a smart way to protect your client and avoid illegal movers.

Q: What happens if something breaks or gets damaged—how does Sea Cure protect my recommendation and reputation?

Sea Cure is fully licensed and insured. We handle claims promptly and professionally. For Realtor-referred clients, we can add complimentary Full Replacement Protection beyond the Basic Liability required for movers. For interstate moves, Bekins allows Sea Cure’s Realtor referral clients up to $100,000 with a $0 deductible for carrier and transit loss or damage, reducing your client’s out-of-pocket cost, minimizing exposure and protecting your reputation.

Q: My clients hired a mover I’m not familiar with. What are red flags, and how do I check them out?

Watch for:

  • Large, non-refundable deposits.

  • Digital payment-only demands.

  • Refusing a visual survey.

  • Stock photos instead of real team/truck images.

  • Missing or suspicious license numbers.

  • No verifiable business location.

  • High-pressure, same-day booking tactics.

To check:

  • Verify NJ licensing at the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs.

  • Confirm interstate licensing with the FMCSA.

  • Research Google Maps for physical locations.

  • Check the BBB and reputable review sites.

  • Or call Sea Cure or the NJ Warehouse & Movers Association for assistance.

Q: I didn’t realize so many moving details could affect a transaction. Would you meet with our team to help us avoid these pitfalls?

Yes! We’re happy to support your team with in-person meetings, virtual sessions, or networking lunches to help you feel confident guiding clients through the moving process.
